Curl Budget is available as a subscription service, giving you ongoing access to all features, continuous updates, and reliable account syncing. This section covers how subscriptions work, trial periods, and managing your subscription.

Subscription Model

Why Subscription?

Curl Budget uses a subscription model because:

  • Continuous service - Bank connections require ongoing maintenance
  • Regular updates - New features and improvements released regularly
  • Data infrastructure - Secure storage and processing costs
  • Support - Ongoing customer support availability

What's Included

Your subscription includes:

  • All Curl Budget features
  • Unlimited account connections
  • Unlimited transactions
  • All detection and analysis features
  • Full budgeting and reporting
  • Workspace collaboration
  • Push notifications
  • Regular updates and improvements
  • Customer support

Subscription States

Trial

New users start with a free trial:

  • Full access to all features
  • 30 days to evaluate
  • No payment required initially
  • Convert to paid at any time

Active

Paying subscribers with full access:

  • All features enabled
  • Accounts syncing
  • Full read/write access
  • Regular billing

Grace Period

When a subscription lapses:

  • 30-day grace period
  • Read-only access (can view but not modify)
  • Accounts stop syncing
  • Time to renew before data becomes inaccessible

Expired

After grace period ends:

  • Access to app is limited
  • Must resubscribe to regain access
  • Data is preserved for a time

Pricing

Current Plans

Curl Budget offers subscription options through the App Store:

  • Monthly subscription
  • Annual subscription (discounted)

Price Lock-In

When you first subscribe:

  • Your initial price is locked in
  • Future price increases don't affect you
  • As long as subscription remains active

This rewards early adopters and loyal customers.

Getting Started

Starting a Trial

When you first download Curl Budget:

  1. Create an account
  2. Your trial begins automatically
  3. Full access for 30 days
  4. No credit card required initially

Subscribing

To subscribe during or after trial:

  1. Go to Settings → Subscription
  2. View available plans
  3. Tap to subscribe
  4. Complete App Store purchase
  5. Subscription activates immediately

Family Sharing

Share your subscription with family:

  • Use Apple Family Sharing
  • One subscription covers eligible family members
  • See Family Sharing

After Trial

Before Trial Ends

You'll receive reminders:

  • In-app notification
  • Push notification (if enabled)
  • Time to decide

If You Don't Subscribe

After trial ends:

  • Grace period begins (30 days)
  • Read-only access
  • Accounts stop syncing
  • Can subscribe anytime to restore full access

If You Subscribe

When you subscribe:

  • Full access continues
  • No interruption in service
  • Billing begins

Managing Your Subscription

Viewing Status

Check your subscription:

  1. Go to Settings → Subscription
  2. View current plan
  3. See renewal date
  4. Check status

Canceling

To cancel:

  1. Go to device Settings
  2. Tap your Apple ID
  3. Subscriptions
  4. Find Curl Budget
  5. Cancel

Restoring Purchases

If you need to restore:

  1. Go to Settings → Subscription
  2. Tap "Restore Purchases"
  3. Sign in to App Store if prompted
  4. Subscription should restore

Workspace and Subscription

Personal Workspaces

Your subscription covers:

  • Your personal workspace
  • Any workspaces you own
  • Workspaces you're a member of (covered by owner's subscription)

Shared Workspaces

For shared workspaces:

  • The owner's subscription covers the workspace
  • Members don't need separate subscriptions
  • Members can access if owner is subscribed

Family Sharing

With Family Sharing:

  • One family member subscribes
  • Family members can use that subscription
  • Each has their own account and workspaces

Subscription Issues

For billing or subscription problems:

  • Apple handles all billing
  • Contact Apple Support for refunds
  • We don't have access to payment info

Technical Issues

If the app doesn't reflect your subscription:

  1. Try "Restore Purchases"
  2. Force close and reopen app
  3. Sign out and back in
  4. Contact support if issues persist
